Project Description:

I am looking for a classy polished calming/natural decor look for my house. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is the type of classy look I like. I like West Elm for its natural feel. And Home Goods has great accessories. Crate and Barrel and CB2 are fresh. I would characterize my style as transitional with Scandinavian inspiration. I also like Indian, African, and Native American style influences. I've tried incorporating an indoor vine wall (fake vines) and some grape wood branches for a more earthy feel. I've got some plants in there. I also tried using some mirror panels. But the look just isn't coming together. Other people like my decor, but I'm sure with your professional eye, you'll see what I'm saying. I think scale may have something to do with it... And lack of something that draws the eye. Idk...

My living room, kitchen, and dining room are all together (open floor plan). I'm just seeking assistance for the living room and dining room parts. I'm OK with replacing some things if I'm convinced it's the best option for the space, but I'm hoping to keep the more expensive items. However, I've been thinking of dyeing/bleaching the curtains white... And refacing the Fireplace...I want to have dinner parties. I've always wanted to entertain, even though the dining area is small.

For my bedroom, I need 100% styling. I only want to keep my bed but change everything else. I'm ok with a wallpaper accent wall in here. It's a weird limiting space, though.

I realize that most of my pictures for inspiration have great natural light. I don't have the option for natural light, but I'm open to hearing options on how to optimize the light in my rooms. I have recessed lighting in my living room and I use daylight light bulbs.

It would be cool if my art could be from African-American artists, but not a requirement. I want my home to give us an accomplished motivating feeling. I like chainmail in home decor. It's amazing when done right.

I have an air purifier in my bedroom - black air purifier (16"w x 9"d x 19"h). I plan on getting one for the living dining area too.

It lacks cohesion and class. It's dark. It's not interesting. My sofa set is not comfortable. The drapes don't seem to go with anything. The gallery wall looks unfinished. The art looks drab. The room has no focal point. It doesn't flow. I don't like the fireplace. It's made of the same granite that the kitchen counter is made of. It doesn't seem to go with the decor. I don't like seeing the TV wires. I like the idea of 3 clocks, but the way I executed it feels a little cheesy. I like the full length mirror is handy to see yourself before walking out.

The dining room muddily blends with other space. I'd like either a distinct difference or a better executed blend. I don't like that there's no rug. The chairs look a little off and I may prefer a dining bench. My plant in the corner by the fountain, doesn't look to scale. The chandelier might not be classy enough. I like the storage bench we have because we use it a lot for our weather items. We also use the coat rack a lot.

I uploaded a picture of track lighting in the "images of your room" area. I did this because we bought that track lighting thinking that it would work better than the brown track lighting that is currently up. It's not a must to use it, but i would be nice if it works with the decor.

Behind the big gray picture (42"w x 52"L) in the living room is a small nook behind it. The picture covers it up. I couldn't take the picture down to get the exact measurements but it's roughly 29"s x 42"h x 4"d.

I do hope to have some space for an air purifier. I'm thinking between the sofa and the fireplace wall would be a good hiding spot for it.

It's a blank canvas because we're selling our bedroom furniture. I don't like how small it is. lol

I also don't like how it doesn't transition well into the bathroom. It's a gray similar to the rest of the house but then BAM. The master bathroom is beige. I'm hoping to find a way to bridge the colors/look. However, I do plan to get a consult for the bathroom. So, don't take the bathroom at face value. I also don't like the little window above the bed. I also don't like that weird nook above the closet. I'm thinking that's a great place for some greenery. I also don't like the sconces. Mirror doors for the closet would be useful.

For your main color, you chose to use gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors.

Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light. Just be careful because matte finish is more difficult to clean. You may also need to touch up scratches or marks by adding more of the same paint in the future.
