Project Description:

We just bought a home in San Diego and are looking for help with using some of our existing furniture best in the spaces provided, decor, and new pieces as you see fit. Since we just bought it, were not sure on exact measurements of each room but have attached photos and a reverse floor plan of the place. We won't be able to measure anything exactly until December 5th. For now, we were hoping to get the design rolling so we have an idea on how we want to put furniture in the new home.

1. Family room: We have a sectional. It's probably a bit too big for the space but we're hoping to still make it work. Looking for help with layout, decor, lighting, and other pieces that may help.

2. Master bedroom: we have no furniture. It's a blank slate.

3. Other room 1/formal living/dining: this is a large room that connects. We don't use formal living. And the place doesn't have a loft or basement for the kids to play. So we're looking for a nice kids play area that can double as a lounge while they play. There's also an old chandelier in this area that we'd like recommendations on bringing it up to date. Open to rug suggestions and wall decor. We have our own dining table.

4. Other room 2: we're looking for help picking out furniture and decor for our backyard patio area. We have a nice pool but aren't sure how best to use the area. Interested in lounge chair ideas, dining table, umbrellas, rugs, lighting, etc

We have a sectional sofa that we would like to try and make work. I know it's probably too big for the space but we really don't want to buy another sofa if we don't have to because our kids are little and hard on the furniture. If you think the sectional would go better elsewhere that works, but we'd probably prefer it in the family room because that's just how we use the space, to lounge around in and watch TV. It's like a family room/media room.

It's currently a formal living room. We don't use a formal living room at all. And the house doesn't have a basement or a loft , so we'd like to turn this space into a kids play area, learning spot for them and have it blend with the dining area that's connected. I realize it's right off the main front door but they're just aren't many other great spots in the home to have a play room, so we're hoping to use this space for the kids to read, write, color, store some of their toys, practice a piano, etc

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
