Project Title:
Luxe Masculine Glam Home Office
Project Description:
Moving from a 1BR 700sf NYC Hudson Yard's apartment to a sprawling 5.3-acre historical home estate in Newtown/Washington Crossing Bucks County PA has been transformational. We are a gay couple in our mid-thirties who loves to entertain, dine, and travel. Some fun facts about me, I was born in the Philippines and was named after George Washington. My mom brought my sister and I to NY when I was 3. I went to Civil Engineering school and have an MBA. I work in Engineering with a Finance spin.
We need help in my office, located in the original 1810 house's 2nd floor, which spans the original home’s entire width. I’ve been drawn to a “masculine glam” theme and would love to integrate the existing beams and some history into the space. The front windows face south so we get some direct sunlight in the morning near the built-ins filtering through the trees.
This is for as much of an imagination as possible. Understanding that I may not be able to move the walls right now, but getting inspired on what could be done is interesting. At the most basic we're definitely going to look into wall, floor, window, furniture, accessories, lighting. Undecided on a TV at the moment.
What's your favorite decor style?:
Glamorous
What are some of the interior design brands or stores that you like to shop at?:
Restoration Hardware, mitchell gold + bob williams, Room & Board, Frontgate, Lulu and Georgia, Bassett, Jonathan Adler, One Kings Lane
What are your favorite colors for furniture and accents?:

I want this room to feel more masculine/feminine/neutral:
Masculine
What type of sunlight does this room receive?:
Other
What do you currently dislike about the room?:
the dirty previous owner carpets. the room is uninspiring and unmemoriable. I need more artificial light. the closets are lined with wood paneling. some of the floors are uneaven making sitting for long periods uncomfortable. Specifically the area between the two windows.
What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:
I’d like to incorporate: - Built-in bookcase and storage nook for some added seating with cushions and pillows - natural wood look on ceiling cross beams and built-in bookcase and bay window storage. - Wide reading chair or even a sofabed if it fits with ottoman, large enough to easily put a serving tray with beverages or serve as an extra seat. - A separate table with 2 chairs if it fits or leverages the bay window and outside flowerbox. - Visual lighting symmetry from the outside at night for all three front windows - A desk that will need to support 2x 24-inch flat panels at all times. If the back of the panels are visible, a creative way to hide the ugly back of the panels - My existing black/chrome Herman Miller Aeron chair.
Are you open to changing your wall colors?:
Yes
Do you have a preference for either paint or wall covering, or are you open to both?:
I typically work about 10-12 hours a day in this room and am on video conferencing. Having a beautifully impressive background and flattering lighting will be important.
Find a creative way to use the large closet: - Micro pantry? Beverage Fridge, snacks? - Open up the wall for more space in the office? - Convert to a jack and jill bathroom with adjacent closet/bedroom
I would love to open the ceiling while maintaining the beams since the roof is pitched but I'll need to see if this is feasible.
Here's the listing video but please note that none of the furniture is there. Most of the rooms are empty. https://youtu.be/CvohQOG9dQU https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1055-Little-Rd_Newtown_PA_18940_M46648-78701

Since your room is smaller using a dark and rich color will make it feel cozy, warm, and lounge-like.
For your main color, we chose to use blue because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It is reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans. This color works well in bedrooms and offices and can help turn your space into a soothing sanctuary.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
* Steel top with brushed gunmetal finish * Honed white marble base * Variation in veining and activity of marble is to be expected; each piece will be unique
