I am looking for help with the open floor plan of the living, dining and kitchen area. The biggest pain point is going to be the darn wood trim! UGH! I am hoping you guys can help me see the beauty in it, just pretend you can, even though you can't, my husband doesn't want to paint it - I don't know how to paint only the trim but leave the sills, not sure how to make that work. So what colors do I pick for the walls? The floors are concrete -which we love, and we are looking forward to replacing the kitchen countertops too- maybe terrazzo?!! So excited!

I love all Vintage Revivals blog and renovations especially the Merc that she just finished!

I want the room to feel more cohesive - the rug is too big I think and I definitely need help with hanging things on the wall! I have live edge shelves for the corner above the sad looking plant (you can see the white brackets on the wall. We are looking to purchase a new rug, couch and chairs. The Poang are so comfortable, but not the most appealing to look at - maybe we could make that work? I was thinking we definitely need 2 chairs whatever they may be! The console table is a place holder until we find one that we like. How do you arrange pictures up the stairs and make that look cool? I have hanging thing on the wall phobia! How could I forget about the eye windows up top?! Do I paint them the same color as the wall to make them disappear? What do I do on the window sills, they seem wide enough that they should have something but I am not a fan of too many knickknacks so?!?

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

I would love the black and white picture of my kids to stay somewhere in the room, some of the plants can go if they need to. We would love to keep the table and chairs, and we have a new light fixtures (2 McCarthy Pendants) for over the table being installed this Wednesday! Yikes It would be cool to keep the coffee table, but we do have one that is similar, just smaller! If we could keep the whale that would be cool, we do live on Cape Cod - not looking for too much nautical design though! I have attached pics of some random decor that we have - use it if you can, its okay if not.

I am also working on a LARGE weaving to hang over the fireplace - not sure if it will work or not. I was thinking of mostly blues and grays?!
Added the ceiling fan, forgot we had ordered that!

counters are cool nice thick concrete, but the color is totally not us, so I want to swap that out, as well as the backsplash behind the stove! I would like to get a new sink. We just painted the island that navy blue color which we love, and we have the bar stools that match the kitchen chairs!! Not suer if we should paint the rest of the cabinets, to match the island, and we are fine with the appliances - they work and are too expensive to replace! Maybe figure out how to rid some of the clutter with the knife block and coffee maker? There isn't too much counter space!?

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to keep white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious. For your cabinet color, we chose to use navy blue because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It ris reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans.

Use a semi-gloss paint finish as it is ideal for bathrooms and cabinets. It has a slight shine and is easy to clean.
