We have recently purchased a 3,600 sf home in Coral Gables, FL. The existing style of the house is Spanish and there is only one floor (ground). We need help with designing a large bedroom, a bathroom and one livingroom. We are first time home owners. Please let me know if you need further information.

This room has a lot of personality which we'd like to keep and work around. I love the fireplace, the pocket doors, and the old door connecting the living with the bedroom/bathroom area.

The light, chairs and table are RH (I have recently purchased them as the room was completely empty). The chest is an old Moroccan cedar, hand carved. The side tables, the vase and planter are hand made in Mexico, and the vase on top of the fireplace, as well as the plate are hand made in Turkey (Anatolia). The Persian rug is also hand knotted, and we like it.

We need to put new floors that work seamlessly with the house's style, a couch (or two), and was considering a built-in library and/or shelves. Additionally, we need curtains and wall lights/ floor lamps to make up for the spot lights that we want removed.

We'll have a team working on the living, bedroom and bathroom at once, so we are going to do gut renovation on most of everything. So feel free to come up with the most amazing designs. We surely don't like standard style and are willing to make long lasting changes.

We thought about getting rid of the existing closet and building a larger one from floor to ceiling, which will also take 4' out of the existing depth (and enclose the window in the closet, which is not ideal, but don't know an alternative option).

For bedroom, the more storage room, the better.

This bathroom has access to the pool area. Because of its location, it is also one of the must commonly used bathrooms by guests. Additionally, it is the only bathroom by the bedroom that's included in the project, hence it has to have a shower.

This will be a completely gut renovation project. My Instagram account, @nddsign has a lot of ideas for bathrooms. Perhaps not all are suited given the size, however, but I am sure some ideas can be applied for this one.

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

For your main color, we chose to use green because it is soothing to the eye. It reminds us of nature and has a refreshing, stress relieving quality. Green is suitable for any room. In bedrooms it’s relaxing and pleasing, while in dining rooms it promotes overall balance and health.
