Project Title:
Small Home Office & She-Shed Combo Design Idea
Project Description:
Now that I'm working from home, I need some help updating my small detached shed into a proper she-shed where I can work, workout, meditate and ride my peloton. And hide from my kids! Budget under $1500 would be ideal.
The space is: 102" door to curtain (length) 112" mirror wall to dream catcher wall (width) 94" ceiling to floor (height)
It's a small space so I need everything to be highly functional. I'm now in there all day during the week so I want the energy in there to be light and airy. Unfortunately I don't have the full space to myself, behind the curtain area (shown in pics) I have family storage that won't be going anywhere. There is also storage behind the "skull" curtain of the free-standing pantry unit, but I can definitely move that out of here once I get going.
I've considered a low shelf that could sit on the floor under the mirror and house my weights and workout gear, while providing a table-like space for my books, lamps and plants.
I may need to get a new door and if I do I would want to think about one with a window to open the light that comes in. I do want a new light fixture but because of the Peloton I need it to be somewhat flush to the ceiling (or come down <6") so I don't hit it when I'm doing my weights.
I would love to get some flooring in here, something durable and really easy to install. Possibly light wood-color? Fine with laminate.
I do love the dream catcher and shelves that are hanging currently. I also love my meditation pillows.
I have a makeshift desk right now (butcher block on top of a pantry unit) with a drafting chair. I like that I can use it as a standing desk, but I'm really not helping my wrists as this set up is not ergonomically correct and as I mentioned I'm here 8 hours a day on calls now. I need a better light source for the desk as well.
I selected the curtain so that it could bring a natural tone, and earthiness to the room. But The curtain really clashes with my outfits on Zoom calls and my calls sometimes show the top (which feels like its on a shower curtain rod, versus something a little more flush to the ceiling). I love the style but the pattern is not working for me as I had hoped how that I see it behind me on these calls 8-hours a day.
Maybe I'm modern eclectic? I generally trend towards cool colors, but liked going a little more warm in here (not too warm though..) The rest of the house is modern, and our color scheme is White, Gray with a Bright Yellow accent color. The Shed is Green/White with wood trim and a bright yellow door.

Since your room is smaller using a light and pale color will enhance the light and the space in your room
For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
