We purchased a home and looking for guidance on complete renovation. We are looking to approach general contractors with design plans after they are completed to price out the projects. Our style tends to be traditional, some antique looks with modern touches (Louis XVI, Gustavian, etc). Mostly neutrals but don't mind color if done right.

The current kitchen needs a complete renovation. We are looking to redo everything including layout. We don't like how it is closed off from the living room and would like to expand to possibly 2 islands. I took pictures of the view of the wall from the entryway. We would like to see a 48" range on the opposite wall instead of on the center island. Ideally, we'd like to see the following: cabinets finished to ceiling, easy to clean up materials, built in microwave, espresso area, beverage fridge, warming drawer if not included in range, pot filler, powerful exhaust fan, hidden paper towel bar. very open to suggestions

Also, would love to have a black french or Italian range, with brass hardware, white marble look counter and backsplash, taupe cabinets, and perhaps a darker espresso island cabinetry. love the look of glass cabinets also. if possible black or gray with white checked flooring would be fab

Right now, the pantry feels very skinny and there is an unnecessary closet that protrudes from the wall. Also, there is a full bath attached to the office that we do not ever plan to become a bedroom. We'd like to use this entire space to build a mud/laundry/pantry combo. I imagine a space where we come in everyday, take shoes off on a bench, have 4 coat/bag/key/shoe cubbies (one for each family member), leave packages and mail, arrange flowers, put bulk groceries away, and can throw in a wash. I would also like to store less used servingware if possible, and perhaps make use of the current double oven and dishwasher to be installed in here along with the sink.

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use a satin finish paint which has a bit more gloss than eggshell finish and is a little smoother. This finish is often used for windows, doors, trim, and ceilings, but can also be ideal walls in kids’ rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and other high-traffic areas because it is easier to clean than eggshell finish.
