Project Description:

We're moving into a new house and have *nothing*. (photos are of prev owner's furniture) Upstairs there is a combined living/dining room next to a large front window, kitchen, large bedroom (master but no bath), TV/guest room, and reading room. We need everything including art, window dressings, colors, etc.

We were asked to choose budget and only given options for 10K-20K or 20K-30K but we're actually thinking around $20K give or take. I selected 10K-20K but we could go over that.

A few notes:
- Larger room we have a king size bed, heavy dark wood. We can get rid of it but FYI in case it might fit in.
- Couches in living room: we need couches that are functional and comfortable and we will be putting covers on them because little kids so factor that in.
- Dining room table: similar issue as with couches, we will probably put a table cloth on it at all times to protect it.
- Last owners had dining room table by front of house with living room space closer to kitchen so there was a cosy hang-out space with kitchen. We've been debating this since my wife feels the dining room table properly belongs next to kitchen. Curious your take.

Attached photos I wouldn't say "inspire" us but are nice. We just googled for "living room decor" and downloaded the first several that we thought looked charming.

About TVs, we will not have a TV in the living room so please don't include entertainment center/stand in designs for that room. However, the TV you'll see in the larger bedroom is staying.

We want this to be a TV room away from the living room (not a kids room). However we'd like it to be useable in a pinch as a guest room also so we're thinking a fold out couch. Of course that also means we need some very simple TV stand/mount. We aren't the types to have an enormous TV, especially because the room is small, we'll probably just by a thin 45" or so TV so whatever stand or wall mount you think would be best to utilize the space best.

This room should also be usable for 2-3 people to just hang out if they TV is off, ideally small table for books, snacks, drinks, whatever.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use yellow. As a joyful color, it is energizing and uplifting. Light yellows are less overpowering and make for a nice happy wall hue. Gold tones have an aura of luxury or they can be seen as antique.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
