What do you currently dislike about the room?:

It is just a bit of a mess. It looks like it's not very put together, which I dislike. I hate open shelving because I never know how to make the shelves look appealing, but I have quite a few books and knick knacks that I think help (if organized). I am interested in potential paint/wall coverings of some sort so that everything is not so stark white, but I am really unsure of how to pull this off.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?:

The rug is staying as we LOVE it. It is 11x15

The space is just awkward. It the one giant wall is just really big (and blank) and has art lights, but is also met by the stairs. The small entry space on the left of the door has an outlet so could maybe put the tiniest table ever there, but unsure how if would look. The pics are kind of difficult and have videos as well I will upload that are a bit easier to see/understand.

All of the blank walls. I like the windows but also wonder if we should put a curtain in. I just want it to look really clean and streamlined from outside looking in, and not messy. Where the bar currently sits, I am unsure of what to put there. I am also not sure what furniture (if any) to put alongside the walls.

We would like to keep the light fixture, but open to something else if it makes sense. The dining table and chairs must remain; they are new and we love them!

My Living Room ColorsMy Living Room

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
